5 Skincare Lessons From Your In House Skin Therapist

We get it.. the skincare world can be tricky to decipher. Overwhelming options can lead to choice paralysis. Whether you are dealing with stressed, fragile skin or breakouts that are making you feel insecure, here are five easy skincare lessons from our in house therapist and co-founder, Jena.

  1. Take the time to identify AND understand your skin type. Understanding your skin type will help you take tip top care of your skin and select skin care products that are right for you.

  • SENSITIVE: Not actually a skin type- but a very common skin condition. Reactive skin that may itch, burn or sting. Easily irritated.
Goal: Calm and soothe skin whilst keeping hydrated. Try Divine Ordinary Active Facial Serum.

  1. Keep it simple with a damn good regime. Think: cleanse, treat and protect. Stop over-exfoliating – you can have too much of a good thing! Twice per week is the sweet spot and if you are wanting a more gentle exfoliation (sensitive skins… this is your time to shine), mix your exfoliator with your cleanser providing they do not contain active ingredients.
  2. I will never stop preaching this: SPF really is your BFF. Your BB Cream with SPF is NOT enough. Invest in a quality sunblock as this will not only provide protection against high risk sun exposure, but also prevent premature ageing. Aim to use a sunblock that offers broad spectrum coverage as this will protect you against UVA and UVB rays.
UVA (Ultraviolet A) Rays = associated with skin ageing.
UVB (Ultraviolet B) Rays = associated with skin burning.
And on that note- this is your sign to get your skin checked GF!
  3. Never stop educating yourself about skincare. YOU ARE YOUR SKINCARE ADVOCATE! And we are here to cheer you on. Got a skin related question? Send me an email: jena@skinnedstore.com.au. We’re like the Dolly Doctors… but for your skin. IYKYK.
  4. Your face doesn’t end at your chin… treat your neck and décolletage as an extension of your face. We have a cheeky way of saying this in the beauty realm… face, neck and deck. Caring for your face, neck and décolletage with a tailored skin routine and TLC will create a good habit as a bare minimum. If you are wanting to go the extra mile, your neck and décolletage deserve their own regime as the skin is more delicate than that on our face. Invest in a facial roller or gua sha and use in conjunction Bang Bang Boogie Facial Serum. Gentle cleansers, exfoliators and SPF are your skin saviours here.
